Every book by Neva Altaj is unique and I am so glad I got an ARC of this one. Burned Dreams is the seventh book in the Perfectly Imperfect series and it is a dark mafia romance that comes with a set of TWs, so please check them before reading this book.
Alessandro is assigned to bodyguard Ravenna who is married to a man that killed his wife. He starts this job with a set revenge plan but that plan crumbles when he spends time with Ravenna. Both MCs have interesting backgrounds and are not what they seem when we first meet them. The chemistry between them can be seen right away so I have no clue how other people missed it.
Overall, the plot and the characters are amazing and the banter between everyone is gold. I honestly can't wait to see what will happen in the next book.
P.S. I really hope that this series never ends, because I'm getting really attached to the characters.

4.25 stars of the guilty pleasures variety
This reminded me of that Turkish drama about the rich guy’s wife and the bodyguard whose jaw gets all clenched when he sees the bruises on her. (Full disclosure: I’ve only seen 3 clips that keep appearing on my feed.)
Did I enjoy this book? Yes. The twist where it’s a bodyguard revenge romance was very nice. The MMC is assigned to be the FMC’s bodyguard and he’s plotting to kill her as part of a revenge plot against her mafia husband, without realising that she’s not the materialistic trophy wife she appears to be.
Did I side-eye myself a little for liking it? Also yes. The characters were a little underdeveloped (Alessandro and Ravenna were more like a collection of events than real people), but the angst from a wounded bird FMC + a MMC who misjudges her was catnip for me, and the way it played out in this story really hit the spot.
