This was a bit of a mind-warper for me. Because I really loved Molly and Carmen, but … I was reminded of my college days, which are complicated memories. Carmen initially reminded me of my music history prof, who reveled in her ability to scare new students: the last thing I personally needed. But I fondly remember some of the grad students I “met” online there. And, in the present day, more than two decades later, my wife is now a grad student (though simultaneously employed full-time).

Personally, if Goodreads allowed half stars, I might have lowered this to 4.5 stars, but that would probably be unfair, more about my history than the book itself.

Even if this wasn't a romance, it would have made a great feminist novel. That's saying something, isn't it? I also loved the blast from the past - pre-cell phones, pre-Facebook, pre-texting, the whole shabang. Very 90s. I'd love to read more Quinn Ivins.

So I read this one a while ago and decided to read another book, then read this one again. It is really that good. Intelligent women are sexy...add a slow burn romance with a ton of chemistry and you have a book I will reread over and over. While I am not typically a fan of teacher/professor/student relationships, this one was done so well I think Molly and Carmen may be one of my favorite couples. A debut this awesome has me super excited for all the future books I am going to pick up by this author. Write faster.

I was waiting for this to be released for weeks (if not months) and I was not disappointed. It was even better than I thought it would be. And there were kittens! Never a bad idea :D I love how this had everything mixed together, the professor/student vibe, the science-y bits, the taking down a sexist, homophobic idiot and just... yep good. I loved this one story-wise and writing style wise.

✨ THE NOSTALGIA. ✨

It's been so long since I put this book in my to-read shelf that I actually, in the end, went in totally blind. Well, I gethered it had something to do with school because of the cover.

No, I definitely wasn't expecting to be taken on a wild ride through these adorable saphic lives in the '97 and '98. Now I definitely need more books like this one. Please, share them with me if you know some.

I absolutely loved this one. I mean

// ice queen (but actually adorable when the ice melts and walls come down) harda*s lesbian tenure professor and a wild I-wanna-save-the-world-so-I-camped-out-in-The-White-House-and-split-my-head-open-when-I-was-finally-arrested smart student (don't worry she's 30) explore their relationship

// two hot a*s intellectual lesbians with mad chemistry fighting homophobes by using math F*CK YES

Yes, I was literally nostalgic for the time I didn't live in.


Okay, maybe their relationship suddenly sped too much up towards the end which I'm not a big fan of, but, honestly, for the negatives I only have to say -

This was such a nice read. It was just a sweet romance but done in a very realistic way where characters don't become obsessed with each other the moment they meet. Instead we get a nice slowburn and entertaining main plot focused on statistics. Who knew maths could be this interesting.
The 90s settings made me feel very old but it was a nice dose of nostalgia and Carmen felt like an extremely relatable character to me.
