I know this was a short book, but I really enjoyed it until the end. It was hot, but it would have been better had it been longer. I hate these weak women who just forgive their guy for anything 2 seconds after an apology.

This itty-bitty story, the first in the MacKenzie Brothers Quartet series, does exactly what it intends to do. It arouses and ravishes. But wait! There's more. If you buy now, you get a sweet little story to go along with the sex-ery. Seriously, this short story is a real pleasure and LH's writing is so crisp, she's won a new fan. I'll be reading more from this author.

This 1st book is free on amazon and a great start to series. Both sides have unanswered hurts and feeling not resolved. Good romance and great HEA. only 45 pages long great for a quickly too.

Very short. Mostly just sex. Plenty of plot potential that went unrealized. For a free read it was ok but I doubt i'd buy any of these unless I knew they were longer and more devloped

It was so short and the HEA happened so fast i just couldn't like it more than two stars. he gets to town and boom they are getting it on on her desk, and by the end of the night they have their relationship worked out? It just needed more.

The MacKenzie Series by Liliana Hart has been on my radar a while. She has done some amazing giveaways both at Wicked Book GNO and here on the blog. I am so far behind on my TBR list that I just haven't gotten to it. So the other night I just wanted a quick hot story before bed...(I knew my husband was ready and waiting...my brain wasn't yet) so I grabbed Dane, a 57 page freebie and the first in the MacKenzie series by Liliana Hart. Liliana actually told me to read Cade first (the 6th in the series, and the first full-length book, plus it's currently FREE), but I wanted a quicky.
I knew going in that it was a novella, so I didn't expect a whole hell of a lot of story, especially since I knew it was an erotic romance. If it's erotic and 57 pages, I expect it to be about the sex. I wasn't disappointed, and there was even more story than expected. The story itself though, didn't really lend itself to such a short telling. Don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed it, but I felt the story deserved more than 57 pages.
After being away from the small town of Surrender Montana, Dane MacKenzie, who has been chasing stories around the world as a reporter, returns to his hometown. After the death of his mother, he couldn't take it anymore, and left the town and his girlfriend Charlotte, and never looked back. When he returns, his rental car dies right outside of town, he walks to the closest auto shop, Charlie's automotive. Guess who Charlie is? Charlotte, the girlfriend he left, but never got over. He has been comparing all women to her for 10 years, but thought she left town right after him.
His brothers never mentioned she was back, with an addition. She hates him for leaving, but does she really? Uuum no...considering she hasn't had sex in 10 years and Dane is fuck-hot, she figures she might as well let him scratch her itch (he can come and scratch mine too!) right there in the office.
Then after their history, and not seeing each other in 10 years, they do it...no condom (jeez, that shit pisses me off!)
Then he meets up with his 3 brothers, all still in town, one is the town's sheriff, one is the only doctor, and the other a PHD at a local college. Dane finds out some news about Charlotte that shocks him, but makes him love her even more. And he goes right back to her.

Dane was well done for a novella. For a change, I actually thought that there was perhaps too much story trying to be packed into such a short erotic tale and it all wrapped up a bit too neatly with a nice little bow. But I still enjoyed the read a lot, and it ..ahem.. worked to get me in the mood a bit as well. I'm not sure if I'll go ahead and download the next four novellas in the series, or just jump right to the full-length book, Cade (currently free), which Liliana says you can. I'd like to see what she can do with a full length book, because outside of the flowery vagina words, I really like Liliana's style.

- -A lot of story packed into a short book.
- -Introduction and set-up to a series, and I want to read about the other characters.
Dislikes:
- -The story deserved more...it just all wrapped up in a bow too quickly.
- -Condom!!!! Seriously? Look at the last result! Duh!
- -Instant forgiveness for him taking off for 10 years.
- -'Damp petals of her folds', 'wet with the dew of her arousal'...some of the expressions were just too flowery for me. Literally. Last I checked, my vagina was no flower.
- -Teased me and ended at 74%!
