I absolutely adored this book. The pacing was excellent and I loved the storytelling. The authors writing is phenomenal. My only minor gripe for this book is the general lack of descriptions for characters! Some parts of the book are a bit unbelievable but given that it’s mostly a comedy, it’s easy to get past if you don’t take it too seriously. Other than that, an incredibly written story and I’m shocked I haven’t seen this book get more hype. My favorite book I’ve read in a long time! Would highly recommend. The romance was really cute and definitely enjoyed it.

Really cute and weird and funny and totally different, just not 100% my style. The irreverent writing and bordering on fantastical plot often made it difficult for me to get into fully. I would almost call this more women's fiction than a romance, while we do get a HEA, it's the storyline that actually offers the least tension and suspense throughout. I did like Meddy's arc throughout the book, she begins to assert both herself and others in a really cool way without ever 'ruining everything' as some heroines do when placed in much less crazy circumstances!

This was hilarious. I never quite knew where the story was going to go next, but I loved Medellin and the Aunties. My one complaint is that Nathan didn't seem that developed as a character. In general, there were a lot of coincidences that seemed to exist just so the story could move forward. But still, I highly recommend, and I look forward to the screen adaptation.

This book was hilarious and made me laugh out loud a number of times. I loved everything about it - the family dynamics, the romance, the insane plot, the characters. I don't want to give too much away, but I would read this again.

I enjoyed the Indonesian cultural education, Meddy is generally relatable as someone who wants to do right by her family and still retain independence, and the aunties are funny. It's heartwarming that they would help Meddy so much in her time of need.

However, the aunties also annoyed the hell out of me with their in-fighting (which I understand was a choice the author made to reflect her culture, but just got tiresome for me as a reader), Nathan is too perfect to be real, the dead body plot is somewhat cute but mostly just a series of dumb decisions, and Meddy's stream of consciousness narration was distracting.

Kissing and mentions of sex but no sex scenes.

This larger than life story will captivate your heart from the very beginning. A blind date gone awry leaves Meddie with a dead body. She doesn’t know what to do, so she calls her mom and three aunties to help her. The women have to navigate working the biggest wedding of their career, and figuring out what to do with a dead body… this book really takes you on an adventure through a Chinese-Indo wedding and all that goes along with it. I really loved the representation of a strong family who will literally do anything for each other, as well as such strong characters and plot line. I would really recommend this book!
