To Have and to Heist by Sara Desai
This book is one of the funniest books I've read in a long time. Laugh out loud, let me read that again, hysterical! I LOVED IT! It has skyrocketed to the top of my purchase list.

Things I am here for:
Authentic South Asian Representation
Very Diverse Cast of Characters
Simi is HILARIOUS! ๐Ÿฌ
Chloe is a white hat hacker - yes to women in tech! ๐Ÿ’พ
Emma can drive anything, even an elephant ๐Ÿšค
Anil The Butcher ๐Ÿ”
Gage the elephant whisperer ๐Ÿ˜‚ ๐Ÿ˜
Christian cares about everything so much! ๐Ÿถ
Jackโ€™s love of plants was such a special character trait ๐ŸŒต
Rose who has done everything and knows everything ๐Ÿฟ
Auntie networks that can make an Italian wedding happen in 3 weeks
The twists!

The swooniest line of all swoony lines:
โ€œYou complicate my life when you say things like that,โ€ he said. โ€œI'd appreciate it if you could be less interesting.โ€

This is my 10th book for The Diverse Baseline Challenge, the 2nd for the February prompt of Found Family.

SO MUCH FUN! A rollicking, rooming, page-turner that made we want to keep reading long past my bedtime. The banter was delightful, the pacing nonstop, the romance sizzling, and even the humor landed perfectly. It was slapstick crazy, but also heartwarming and so. much. fun. I never would have picked this up if it werenโ€™t for my chronic library borrowing, but Iโ€™m so glad I did!

I picked this up from the library bc I've enjoyed some other stuff by this author but I think she confuses flippant with trying to be funny and it does not work as well.

Also I have zero idea of what's supposed to be appealing about the romantic interest.

Finley Donovan meets Dial A for Aunties in a mystery caper rom-com (romp-com?) with an Oceans Eleven heist and an Indiana Jones love interest. Perfect for readers searching for an updated Stephanie Plum.

I could've done with just a little less thirst and a lot less torture, but in general this was a frothy rollick that delivers what it promises.

I was really hoping for good things for this one, but unfortunately, it felt so childish it was hard to read at times. It also needed a better editor; there were mistakes throughout that were confusing.

Simi's narration was at times so annoying I wanted to stop reading, but I was interested in the actual heist plot more than the romance plot. The way she and others talked felt like what you would find in a not-so-good YA book rather than an adult romance.

Jack was also just such a basic bad-boy character with a soft background, there was nothing interesting about him.

This book was somehow too long but also didn't ever give me enough...
