Okay, full disclaimer, this is a weird one! It starts out pretty strange and just gets stranger. The story opens with Loma, a bored alien on the planet Meta, who's ready for a change. She steals a mystical Madness Coat--a relic from her idol, a poet named Rac Shade--and ditches her boyfriend and her planet to find a new life on Earth, where maybe she can finally feel some "big feelings." She ends up inhabiting the braindead body of a girl named Megan who, she soon discovers, was a grade-A awful human being. Now, as Loma stretches and flexes her new human existence, she has to live with the consequences of Megan's previous mean-girl life as she experiences the "fresh sensations" of Earth for herself.

Reading the story feels just as you would image Loma feels in her new human body--overwhelming, hyperstimulating, and super trippy. There's drugs! Sex! Wavy alien goo!

My favorite part was artwork--the colors are gorgeous and psychedelic, and some of the scenes and angles reminded me of Saga (which I freaking LOVE). I especially loved the pool scenes--something about the way the water is drawn and the fluidity of the figures in the water was so, so cool.

The setup of the story does feel a little rushed and cluttered. I would have liked a little simpler and clearer composition/explanation at the very beginning, but as long as you have a good grip on the synopsis, you can still find your bearings. By the end of the installment, the story is really shaping up to be something cool. I'll definitely pick up the next one and see what happens to Loma and her little crew.

Thanks to Eidelweiss and DC Comics for providing me a DRC! This book is out TOMORROW, July 18, 2017!

This review is also up on Novel Cats! :)
