Weather is written in a stream of consciousness style. It reminded me a lot of Severance by Ling Ma except it is what was happening before the illness ruined civilization and brought about the end of the world. I'm not sure how I would rate it. There were many insightful gems hidden in the poor Lizzie's maundering on, if only it were not true that this is indeed how each of us behaves. An omnipresent dread pervades Lizzie's thoughts. The tension before war breaks out or the end of the world begins. I loved the prose style on the page, it made it read a lot like poetry. I think this would be better read, for me, as poetry instead of all in one go.

This was a fast breezy read, but I also found things to underline (mostly the research bits). Offill's writing is captivating, and her characters feel like real people, which I love. I appreciate the bits of interesting finds/research she weaves into her novels.

Liked, but didn’t love this! I thought the writing style was very interesting and engaging — it really kept me grounded in the book & paying attention to the character’s world.

I don't think I should have read this when I was already feeling anxious

I didn't see any plot, just musings written as if in a diary. The characters were ok if not likeable, but I never felt compelled to root for them.
