I haven't accessed FB for nearly 2 years now (aka considered it a time waster and didn't care about it). But I was surprised that a book about this merely a social media platform could be so interesting and informative. Well, now it's not only a useless time waster but also a harm to the society. Also interesting to find out that Instagram has been a part of FB. I made two purchases due to ads on Instagram (they looked really cool on the ads), both turned out to be useless and waste of money. Oh well ...

It’s not like it’s full of surprises, but it’s still deeply disturbing. Facebook had such potential to do good, to be truly good, but their business model will never support that. When users’ attention is the product, and the company monetizes “engagement,” the result is a cesspool clickbait propagated by your “friends.” Facebook owns you even if you don’t have a Facebook account. I hate FB, but I am a regular Instagram user so they own me , too. If you flee to a different network, they’ll just buy it.
I am exasperated and sad after reading this.

A must read for everyone who is involved with Facebook and Instagram. And spells out how much that platform contributed to the massacres in Myanmar, Brexit, and did the hate groups that have risen in the United States in the last four years. Much of course has to do with our last president. No accountability for disinformation.

If you liked _Super Pumped_, you will like this. Great insight into the inner workings of Facebook, and the people who have driven it in the past 5 years.
Simply an amazing book. I could not put it down. I knew that Zuckerberg was a psychopath, but I had no idea that Sandberg was such an enabler.
