I understand it's a classic, but listening to the audiobook and hearing the n word so many damn times is a LOT. Not every classic is worth keeping that title.

قرأت الرواية كاختيار شخصي لوحدة القراءة المستقلة في مادة الإنجليزي. وحقيقة، لم تُعجبني أسلوب أو صياغة الرواية، مع ذلك فعنصر اللغة في هذه الرواية هو واحد من مميزات الكتاب عند النقّاد. ولمن قرأ The Catcher in the Rye, فإن أسلوب هذه الرواية مستوحى من رواي توَين هذه.

لكن الحق أن رسائل الكتاب والقضايا التي عالجها جميلة، فهو تعرّض لمفهوم الشخصية المتحضرة، ودور المجتمع وتأثيره في القرارات الأخلاقية، وأيضا عالج قضية الهروب من المجتمع، وإن شئت فعبّر عن هذه القضية الأخيرة بمفهوم الحرية. كذا استعماله للمجازات أو الـ Symbols ممتع، ويسهل التعرّف على المعاني الذي يقصدها أو يشير لها.

ويجدر بالذكر أن أرنست هَمينجواي Earnest Hemingway قال عن هذه الرواية أنها:
"كل الأدب الأمريكي الحديث يأتي من كتاب واحد كتبه مارك توَين، واسمه هَك فِن."

Like a PG-13 version of Tom Sawyer. I can understand why it was popular at its time but there’s just other more interesting stories out there now. Reading with a younger audience would require A LOT of teaching about words used that are now either inappropriate or derogatory terms.
