A wonderful peek into West African Mythology. The characters are vibrant and intense. Tomi Adeyemi has convinced me that this world of diviners, maji and magic truly do exist.

It started slow but became more interesting as I read more. I enjoyed reading it. Inan jmis my keast favourite character. He was the only one who took some emotion out of me, cursing at him for even breathing sometimes!
The number if characters are not that many and it is easy to remember them. The character development, especially with Amari, is beautiful.

the writing style was extremely dry and i couldn't bring myself to care about any of the characters. i realized i was reading out of a strange sense of obligation to finish every book i start, until i realized i did not need to suffer for free like this.
