Even though I had to read this for English class in 7th grade, I actually thought it was good

The story feels like it's dragging, but it makes sense based on how the environment in which to story takes place. It can be hard to read through at times, but it does make up for it in the end. It does lay down a lot of foundation for the books that come after but most of the lore shows through "Messenger" and "Son".

The book had a very interesting concept and leaves you with lots of thoughts to ponder about after finishing it.
However just like the community in the book, I found the writing to be colourless and dull. It was just this 'happened and this happened and this person did this' the entire book.
But it does make a quick and interesting dystopian read.
