This is the first novel in a long, long time that Immersed myself in...the last 200 pages just flew by. Good characters, excellent writing and a very sympathetic main character

Gaiman's imagination is incredible. I loved this. It's a long book, and the pace of it is slow, but I was never bored.
I love Neil Gaiman. I cannot imagine him writing something I do not love. If he decided to write a cozy mystery series about Shadow and Chad Mulligan as a buddy cop duo solving crime in and around Lakeside, I'd read the shit out of it.
When I met Neil Gaiman for 20 seconds at Comic-Con in 2007, I said to him, "I'm glad I haven't read all of your books because it gives me something to look forward to." I realize now, that even when I have someday read them all and am waiting for the next I will look forward to rereading and relistening to his books.

Wonderful writing as always from Neil Gaiman with very unique characters and voices that were interesting to follow.
I did read the Author's Preferred Edition so it is slightly longer than the original and it did maybe feel slightly longer than it needed to be in the middle but only slightly. Overall, a great read!

I KNOW I read this years ago, but didn't remember a thing about it (thanks, sieve brain) aside from a very VERY basic plot overview. With the TV series coming up I wanted to refresh my memory, and I'm glad I did. Such a very strange, creative, sharply imagined tale.
Good fun, but absolutely does not live up to all the hype.
I couldn't decide between giving this book 3 stars or 5 stars, so I settled on 4. Neil Gaiman certainly has a talent for his craft. Excellent author, hence the 5 stars (although I'll never read Gaiman again). I vacillated between loving and hating this book throughout. If I'm fully honest, it was not an enjoyable read. I either have to take pleasure in reading or learn something. The 3 is for the conflicting feelings I had. So I guess we'll go with a solid 4.
I hope someday I can teach this book to a class of my own just so I can actually make other people read it. Best book I've read since Name of the Wind, but amazing in a totally different way. Ahhh just f*cking phenomenal.
