Good world building but lacks the absolute gut wrenching feeling of isolation of the original book. Plot was a bit predictable but the ending was equally as touching as the first one.

I re-read The Handmaid's tale this summer in anticipation of this installment. I first read The Handmaid's Tale 20+ years ago and my mind was blown. I couldn't imagine such a world. When I re-read the book, I wasn't that captivated (maybe because the world is full of dystopian stories now). I thought it was slow. I almost didn't start The Testaments because I have 90 essays on Antigone waiting to be graded....but, I decided to read page one...I never stopped. Wow! I really enjoyed the multiple perspectives and stories. The ending did feel a little too perfect but I didn't mind. The many women's voices were well written. I could 'hear' them. What a story! Now, to grade essays...
