adventurous dark tense

Better than The Handmaid’s Tale in my opinion, however, I don’t think I’m a fan of Margaret Attwood’s writing as I struggle to connect with it. Again, felt as though everything was geared around something potentially happening, and left me personally wanting more action. That being said, I did like the different perspectives and how the three “strangers” are actually linked, and follow the one plot.

a sequel that isn’t really a sequel. testaments is much richer and provides more nuance to the world through a variety of perspectives. whereas the handmaids tale is a very compact novel; testaments is much more expansive. the novel is fast paced. the plot is brilliantly structured. it gains momentum towards an explosive finale. the main ‘testament’  to this is for all of its horror and for all of its bleak descriptions of the very darkest corners of the human soul it also manages to be funny; without in any way compromising on its message or atmosphere. atwood is not afraid to tackle the darker aspects of human psychology. and in a way that is both progressive and constructive. atwood refuses to look away from the truth of human experience. phenomenal and gripping novel.
