Good book. Giving it a 3.5 instead of a 3 because of the audio production, love graphic audio as always
Overall I think this book was setting up a story to tell rather than telling its own. Nothing much happened until the last hour and it could have easily been shaved down by 200 pages. It started to feel repetitive in the conversations and actions. I just kept waiting for something to happen. The ending was good, surprising, but not as explosive as I'm used to from SJM
My favourite parts of the book were the scenes and conversations with Ruhn and Day. They really kept me going. I loved the mystery, the chemistry, and the angst between them. Can't wait to see where they go in the next book
I also didn't like Bryce and Hunt as much.... I loved them in the first book but in this they felt more... I don't know, just off for me
I liked the rebel thing and the more POV's. It's just annoying that you have to listen to so many hours when it could have been told in half the time. I think if I read this physically I would have soft DNF, skimmed through, or read it over 3 months
Shipping Ruhn and Lidia til the day I die. I love them. I love the angst and how strong Lidia is to continue playing the Hind when she knows it hurts people. All to hopefully get a better world eventually. They are mates and I want them to be happy. I am scared Ruhn will die in the next book because of the prophecy though. To save Lidia maybe. I will cry if he does
I really want to like Ithan but he's kinda icky. Also hate that sunball is mentioned every time he comes up. He is more than a retired sunball player. Give him more character, please
I really enjoyed the ending. It wasn't as explosive or emotional as HoEaB, but finding out that the Astrei have been killing multiple planets and that they are all cattle to them. Brilliant. I loved it. It really makes them the biggest bad they can be, the stakes are high if they fail. Not just they die, everyone dies, other worlds will die
Unsure how I feel that she landed in Prythian with the inner circle at the end. Very excited and giddy about seeing Az again, heheheheh. My husband. I'm worried they it will be ruined in the next book. ACOTAR is SJM most popular series because it is more romantic that TOG and this. It has a cult following, is she doing this because it was always the plan? Or is she doing a cross over to get more book sales?
It could also be ruined if the entire next book is Bryce trying to get back while everyone at home tries to figure something out and wait for her. Then it ends on a cliff hanger of her finally going back with some weapon but nothing actually happens. If it does I am going to be really pissed
That easily could have been put in this book. Yes the shock factor of her being in Prythian is a good way to end it, but that could have happened half way through, the second half be finding a solution and it ending with her returning to Hunt to kill the Asteri
Honestly have fears that SJM's books are going to end up like modern day Marvel. Also very cash grabby with how many 'bonus chapters' she has that is exclusive to certain stores so you have to buy like 4 of the same book to get all the content. Not that I can get that here in Australia. Anyway. I have fears
Also really pissed me off how much Danika's character was changed in this book. I did a rant in my review in part 1, but they use her character to further the plot when there are other ways. Danika should have stayed dead with no knew secrets when she helped Bryce in the drop. Now we find out she had a Mate and never told Bryce?!!!! Hate it
I also made a theory in part 1 that Bryce and Hunt aren't actual mates. Less convinced now, just because of how much it is shoved into your face. It could still be that they are Carranam not mates
