fun concept, i enjoyed the short stories with a common thread premise and each plane was inventive and thought provoking. was the last paragraph a twist ending??? just silly enough to keep me guessing

This felt like Ursula Le Guin going "now let's do a silly one!"
Not my favorite of hers but still enjoyable.

Characteristically Le Guin, but perhaps less serious and less subtle than her other works. The stories read a little like fables. I thought it would be funny to read it at an airport, but guess what – it's better enjoyed when you're not uncomfortable and exhausted.

Highlights: The Nna Mmoy Language, The Building.

You have to sort of let it arrive, stepping gently in orange plastic shoes, muttering asides to the porpoises—you have to let overwrought metaphors tap you gently on the nose, and smile at them, and then stack the chips neatly on the side, and enjoy the sound of them clattering together. After all of that, there is genius in here that is not to be missed. Especially if you read it on a rainy day, while sitting in a quiet place.
