It was interesting.
dark mysterious

A few of them fell a little flat for me, but overall some really great stories. Interesting mix of surrealism, nightmare, folk tales, and the "horror of being a woman."

I enjoyed this short story collection a lot. The tales are dark and bloody, very original and unsettling more than scary. I always love reading things with unexpected twists and with Apple and Knife I never guessed what I would read next. Paramaditha's writing style is sharp, smart and beautiful.

I don't agree with some other reviews that some of the stories were too short. Shortness made them easier to read although it caused me to breeze through this book fast. There are definitely some stories I'm going to re-read with a bit more focus and thought!

Dark, weird, and provocative. I was intrigued.

A series of deliciously dark stories from Indonesian writer Intan Paramaditha. I am in my villian era: I am enjoying dark naunces of womanhood, how spurned love has been turned into wrath, and desires are forbidden. What does this do to girlhood and womanhood?

There are stories of betrayal, nonchalance, and death. Some of the patriarchal dialogue infuriated me, but revenge soon came afterwards
