The premise and world were interesting, but there were many unanswered questions for it being the first book. A lot of the magic system was dropped at the last 25% of the book, and characters made important in the beginning stopped being written about by the end.

A friend recommended this book and I was very happy to receive an ARC copy. I love the cover. It took me a while to finish, I read several other books instead. It was just hard to hold my attention. I'll try again before the 2nd book comes out - it interested that much where I want to read the second one.
