Make sure you know it is not a stand alone, I bought it thinking it was and now I have to wait a couple of months (until decemeber) to see what happens 😩
Now that you have that in mind, it is a great book. I love fantasy books but I always avoid reading them because it's hard to learn about this new and different world, but this one was not that hard to get into, I didn't feel like I was bombed with confusing information, it was really easy to fall into pace.
The book has a couple of good twists, ones that you expect and others that not so much.
Throughout the book, you'll experience two povs and I got to say that both of those characters are trully lovely, I love Kiara and her fierce personality and I love Jude (who could ever not).
I'm so excited and can't wait to read the next book!

I couldn't get through the beginning, but I pushed through. The last 100 pages answered a lot of questions I had, which made it worth it.

The plot has so much potential, I am curious about the sequel.

I really enjoyed this book. It was fast paced, with lots of action, adventure, mystery, friendship and love. The story is told in dual POV and Kiara and Jude sucked me into their storyline immediately. If I hadn’t had to pause reading for other books I had to finish on a deadline and sick kiddos, I would have flown through this one.

I loved the bond between Kiara and her fellow recruits. The found family they created was one of my favorite parts of the book. And although I did guess who the villain was before the reveal, it kept me guessing up until shortly before the reveal. The book did have some violence and language, some of the violence being graphic in parts, but not overly so.

Overall I would recommend this book. It was an exciting read that gave a good reminder that although our scars seen and unseen help mold us into who we are, they do not define us.
