If I had to pick one book and had to stay there forever, this hands down would be it. The writing style, the characters, and the way Jude talked about Kiara was enough to make my heart melt. That ending HURT. I could not put this book down, and I need the next one right NOW.

I think the plot is interesting but the writing didn’t flow well for me. It felt too forced like the writer was trying too hard with the details and falling flat on everything else.

I really enjoyed the magic and mystery of the Mist and the gods. Brooding Jude and the brave, reckless and badass Kiara were perfect. I love the dual POV and the epigraphs for each chapter really helped with building that mystery!

I did for the most part enjoy this story, but it did end with me frustrated. While it's understood that what's happening to the kingdom is mysterious and not understood, there was so much about the government and people itself that deserved more building out. It felt like a cop out to avoid better world building being done.
