The mysteries continue to be good but the relationship between Sebastian and Hero continues to be so meh it really affects my enjoyment. It just doesn’t feel right and neither does Kat and Sebastian moving on from each other. I know this isn’t a romance but it could be a little more romantic☹️

The mystery in this one wasn't the strongest in the series but by now I'm so invested in these characters that it hardly matters. Sebastian is, as always, intriguing and charismatic. Hero is a perfect foil for him and if their marriage of convenience isn't a love match yet, I think this book gives hope that their grudging admiration and respect for each other is growing into something warmer. All in all, another very good entry in this historical mystery series.

Home remodels have made it hard to read a physical book so I decided to revisit some old, favorite friends via audiobook to ease my stress. What can I say? I adore Sebastian and Hero and their world and I enjoy any chance to revisit them. Davina Porter's narration makes a great story even better.

Oh man, I decided to start up this series again after skipping some of the books. The mention of Camelot and the Lady of Shalott called to me too much. The mystery was lacking though aka not really that interesting.

I'll usually read books in this series in a day or two, but I took my time with this one. I didn't want to rush it, because the writing in these books are great. The descriptions and character developments are top notch, and I didn't want to miss a thing to speed read just to find out what happens at the end.

I'm not going to do a summary of this book, because at this point in the series, I'll just be giving stuff away. I will say that this mystery had a King Arthur theme, and features a young Alfred Tennyson and a tragedy to do with his family.

It was an engrossing mystery, with fantastic action sequences and intriguing characters. Seriously, the action descriptions in this series is some of the best I've read. And I just love the characters, old and new. There isn't an uninteresting character in the bunch, and you never know who's hiding something, until the end.

Another thing I love about this series, is that it evokes the Regency era without stuffing it down your throat, both the glittering and the gritty. Sebastian is upper class, but due to his involvement in murders, he's often thrown into encounters with some unsavory characters. From criminals to expatriates, we come across them all, and none of them are as they seem.

Another solid installment in the series, I can't wait for the next one.

Arthurian legend, Hero and Sebastian settling in to marriage, Hero's torn loyalties, Sebastian being secretive...everything still works and works great. I would have killed for more Hero/Sebastian stuff but I appreciate the need for time and understandings too.

Hero Jarvis and Sebastian St. Cyr, Viscount Devlin, married in haste. They are in love but neither trusts the other; Sebastian knows Hero's father, Lord Jarvis, wants to kill him and Hero fears Devlin doesn't really love her. It is a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive, as the old saying goes. Lord Jarvis wants to know who is behind the current rumors spreading through London supporting the rising of King Arthur in place of the Prince Regent but Hero and Sebastian want to know who murdered Hero's friend, Gabrielle Tennyson. Gabrielle was excavating a site known as Camlot's Moat, a corruption of the word, Camelot. What did she find that was worth killing her for? The suspects multiply as Sebastian and Hero dig deeper into Gabrielle's family and past. Hero and Sebastian are two of my favorite heroes and I really want their relationship to succeed, but will they be able to overcome their mutual distrust? Recommended for anyone who enjoys the Regency period and British crime fiction.

I really enjoyed the slowly developing romance between Sebastian and Hero. Am looking forward to finding out how the rivalry between Sebastian and Jarvis plays out. I like that duplicitous Kate plays a smaller, more peripheral role. Everything else was as delightful and entertaining as usual.

When the murder of an Arthurian scholar friend of Hero’s happens, Sebastian is pulled into to investigate. To make mattes worse her two young nephews are also missing. Turns out Hero’s father knows something about Gabrielle before her death and Hero knows it as well but doesn’t share it with her new husband. This is a solid mystery, but it also shows the foundation of Hero and Sebastian’s marriage being built. Another enjoyable read and trying so hard not to binge on the entire series when my TBR is so large.
