Not too long. Pretty interesting stuff and a strong woman. This is set near and sometimes where I live so it’s cool. Savannah worked for my cat vet. I do think they have an issue with speeding though. Especially when they don’t need to be
I pre-ordered this gem because I saw ppl talking about it on Twitter, before Twitter descended into its current decayed form. I read lots of James Herriot as a kid animal lover, and as an adult animal lover, I hold the beloved veterinarians who have treated my animals in high esteem. If you aren't squeamish about raising animals for food, and you likewise actually enjoy some of the details, you will really enjoy this memoir. I only wish there were a little more of Melinda in it, in addition to the Dr. Melinda. But maybe that can happen in the next book, with the benefits of more time and distance from the events she will write about.

Dr. Melissa is a wonderful story teller. Her stories provide a realistic look at large animal medicine while truly showcasing her passion and love for her profession. Being a veterinarian as well, her stories really resonated with me but I feel that this book can appeal to a wide type of reader.

I've been reading a lot of vet memoirs recently, and this is my favorite so far. As a cat lover there is one chapter I wish had been omitted, but on the whole I want a sequel whenever the author has enough material for one!
