Wow! This memoir is beautifully written and deeply personal. I highly recommend it. It amazes me that he’s be willing to share so much of his life in such a public forum. But the fact he does evidences a tremendous amount of healing. With all the trauma and violence in his life, there’s so much hope in the healing he experienced as well.

I knew of Colton but wasn't completely aware of his story. What was most shocking to me was how candid he was in this book.

I live and have grown up in Missouri and was born in Arkansas . So reading about his time in these areas definitely hit home.

For as young as Colton is, he has been through several lifetimes worth experiences. I am proud of him for sharing his story and being so open about who he is, was, and would like to be.

Things are never quite what they seem and the amount of negativity that comes from being a "stereotype" is horrendous. If anything Hollywood would be so much more appealing if it was welcoming and didn't encourage people to be someone their not. While I understand the mass appeal of being secretive, how is the typical way we assume things about people ever going to change unless we embrace them.

It's always known that the typical Hollywood star is Heterosexual but the gay community needs representation as well. If I were younger and knew of an actor that was gay and playing in a show like Teen Wolf or Arrow, it would of made a huge difference in how I see the world and see myself and what my "worth" is and what I am capable of. Positive outside representation can help so many people on so many levels.

If for some reason you read this Colton, just know that if I saw you I would definitely give you a hug. Thank you for telling us your story. And why 3 stars? Because me being selfish just wanted the book to be a little longer, that's all.

First, I will admit, prior to entering the giveaway for Miss Memory Lane, I had not heard of Colton Haynes. I may not have been the target audience for this book. That being said, I was thoroughly immersed in this memoir. Raw and often hard to hear, he was brutally honest sharing his story of navigating through dysfunctional family relationships, addiction, and his own self-doubts on his journey to the man he is today.

Highly recommended.

I would like to thank the publisher Atria Books for providing a giveaway copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

(P.S. – I have since watched a few episodes Teen Wolf and Arrow!)

Wow. This was an intense, honest and overall beautiful book. I couldn’t put it down. Some parts brought me tears and other made me smile. We learnt so much about his life and upbringing, the struggles he had with addiction and abuse at such a young age. I’ve been a fan of Colton since I saw him on Teen Wolf as Jackson. I’m a bigger fan now!

I knew Colton from Teen Wolf and loved him but had no idea about his childhood or the struggles he faced as he pursued his dreams.

A truly moving coming of age memoir about family, trauma, and the resilience of the human spirit. I have so much respect for this incredible man and am so grateful to him for sharing his story with the world.

The entire book was great but chapter 14 was the most powerful for me and was the one that I think nailed his voice and his reflection most clearly.
