It was good to meet Daisy's sister Violet and her children. The village felt like something out of Miss Marple which is a positive imo.

A light cozy in a small village. Kind of wanted a follow up of how all the people kept living amongst each other after knowing how many of them had secrets

In a time when there is a lot of uncertainty the formula of these light murder mysteries has been diverting but the female characters are stereotypically week and flat and in almost every book Dunn brings up something problematic about race, sexuality, class, mental health etc and just drops it in the plot without dealing with it at all.
I am a bit embarrassed I listened to so many of these but they were available from the library when I needed something light that wrapped up nicely at the end of each book.
If you are looking for period mysteries the Maisie Dobbs books are much much better. (The Verity Kent mysteries are also good but there are less of them and the last one available now does not have a neat ending so I have to wait for the fourth book to hopefully find out what happens)

An interesting premise. Daisy’s brother-in-law, asks her to investigate the poison pen letters that he and other villagers have been receiving. Daisy takes Belinda, fiancé Alec’s daughter along. While Belinda plays with Daisy’s nephew and her sister recovers from what seems like postpartum depression, Daisy asks questions. She also agrees to talk at a women’s meeting about writing but on her way, she stumbles across a body.
Unable to reach the local police, Belinda calls her father. He and his team come as quickly as possible. Alec and Daisy fight, then make up. Seemed too quickly escalated and too quickly over.
It was nice to learn more about Daisy’s family aside from her disapproving mom and guilt-ridden uncle who inherited the former family estate.
If Daisy and Alec handle conflict going forward the way they did in this book, their marriage will be tough.
A pleasant read overall.
