Hledání blízkosti, sebe a lásky – zdánlivě profláklé, a přece svérázně zpracované téma.

one of those books that makes itself seem super vague and intellectual in the hopes you won't notice truly nothing is going on.
going to leave it at that or my review might get longer than the book.
bottom line: i guess don't judge books by their covers.

I liked this but I'm not entirely sure why. I usually dislike very short chapters, nonlinear, poetry-esque writing in what is supposed to be a a novel. I think I liked the writing style and subject matter, so I looked at it as more poetry/experimental than something to try hard to follow.
I'm surprised at how many poor reviews this got.
This is a very quick read, but I loved every minute of it. The language is so simple and beautiful and it's 100% a fever dream but the blurb claims the book to be that anyway so it didn't disappoint. I love the way the writer is able to give that effect with words. The narrator is unreliable, but given the situation she's in, probably disassociates a lot, so it makes sense.
Some reviews say that not much happens in this story. That's not true - things happen, but there isn't one big plot you're following, like ohh, this is the thing the character wants, is it going to happen? I don't care about books like that, so I guess this didn't bother me. I 100% love the language and emotional appeal a book has instead, and this one has it. Each page is just such a poignant observation on this woman's life, weaving together a feeling/mood/vibe with words, and I think that's incredible. I really loved this book and am so glad I stumbled upon it in a bookstore on vacation and bought it.

A haunting book with beautiful writing. Did I always know what was going on? Not really. Did I care? Only sometimes.
This book is written so beautifully, with such care given to tone and meaning and repetition. I absolutely adored the narration style, the continuous circling back and rewriting of the narrative. It felt just the right length, and everything seemed so careful and painstaking. Truly a great novella.
A ler, definitivamente.
