"I was interchangeably cold and bored and sometimes I burst out crying. No, I never cried, because there was no sadness in the world, only joy. That flooded me. What? I feel nothing, nothing. I feel nothing. When we slept together I imagined it was like soft cotton balls, no, like a couple of kittens, baby skin touch, like a slight wind blowing. I screamed."
Voyeuristic, deliberately deceptive, lyrical, stream-of-consciousness novella about Libby, a young Israeli sex worker. The graphic details of what she does, thinks she remembers & can’t quite forget are braided together, then unbraided, again, again. She keeps rewriting her narrative, moving in a loop around trauma, trying to reclaim herself, seeking love only to find it doesn’t feel that far away from whoring. Beautifully subversive writing. Brutal. Brief. Real like a sharp razor against bare skin.

Not my usual type of read so not sure what to make of this. It was alright to me I guess. These types of reads are more challenging having to infer what is going on
