I feel like the author didn’t have enough fun with the Obi-Wan and Anakin dynamic- they didn’t feel like a dynamic duo. I mean, this is just a dramatization of a very goofy movie (that I love) and the seriousness is off putting to me given the source material.

“Wait a minute, how did this happen? We’re smarter than this!”

But whatever.

An absolutely breathtaking novel. The way Stover gets inside the heads of the characters and gives depth to all the moments you know and love, the way he makes you feel their fear, stress, anxiety, sorrow, and more is remarkable. If you're a fan of the film, I beg you to read this book.

My father was a child when Star Wars released in theaters and fell in love with the world Lucas and his team created. When he had a son years later in the year 2000, naturally, he introduced me to that same world. Only now, there was a new generation of SW films releasing for a new generation of fans. While I enjoy and appreciate the OT, episodes I and III are what captured my heart, my favorite of which has always been Revenge of the Sith. It has the perfect balance of epic space battles, breathtaking lightsaber duels, political drama, and is one of the greatest stories I've ever seen in which the good guys lose.

This novel takes what made that film perfect and elevates it even higher. Key moments are expanded upon, dialogue is improved yet familiar, and because of our ability to understand characters thoughts and feelings, motivations and reactions are infinitely more understandable and relatable as a result. Easily one of the best novels I've ever read, even if I am a bit biased. I'd argue even if you've never seen a SW movie, you would thoroughly enjoy this read.
