The dark is generous, and it is patient, and it always wins—but in the heart of its strength lies weakness: one lone candle is enough to hold it back.
Love is more than a candle.
Love can ignite the stars.
😭❤️😭❤️😭❤️ oh my god this book. Absolutely devastating and magnificently written. For years I heard the hype about it and was like, “yeah, I’ve read the AOTC novelization and it was a lot of fun, I’m sure this one is too but people have to be overhyping this, right?” but now I get it, I get the hype. This book is so, so good. I love the way Stover structured this book and all the introspections and emotional reflections we get from inside the characters’ minds. It’s devastating and heartbreaking and even as a massive Star Wars prequels fan who’s loved them for years, I feel like I understand ROTS and appreciate it even so much more from reading this book. It’s a sprawling, unhurried, meticulous tragedy and made me cry so many times and it’s just. transcendent. ❤️❤️🩹
ps I loved this book so much and it made me so emotional that it took me a few weeks to even figure out how to write a coherent review for it lol. It’s just. It’s so good. ❤️❤️

This last book in the series, I felt, had the biggest struggle with developing Anakin's character. Through the books, I found him much more likable, but in this last book I felt like his transition from Jedi to Sith Lord was somewhat sloppy (through no fault of the author, we can blame the movie for that. Poor guy tried as hard as he could). The dialogue between Palpatine and Anakin, and their relationship, made it easier to swallow, but I still felt as if Anakin's transformation was rushed, and didn't really dig quite to the heart of what turned him (almost, though!). However, the author did manager to bring in eloquent imagery to try and add some depth to his struggle, and did the best he could working with the storyline he had.
Obi and Anakin's relationship was wonderful to read, and the author finds a way of pulling your heartstrings into their friendship, and keeping you hung there at his mercy. It's a shame that Padme's character and her and Anakin's love couldn't be half as realistic or touching, but I don't think anyone could accomplish that task.
Overall, a really good read. Sometimes a little plodding and difficult to get through. Considering I hated the movie story line, the author has managed to give Anakin a fantastic revamp, and gave a much more thought provoking version of the original film.

I consider Revenge of the Sith my favorite movie. It's not the best movie I've seen, but I think it's a compelling and fascinating story, even if it's not always told in the best way.
This novelization takes that compelling story and gives it the fantastic execution it deserves. Stover's writing style is beautiful and evocative, a real treasure to read. He takes full advantage of the added insight into characters that the novel from allows to enhance the tragedy of ROTS, giving the characters even more depth and fleshing out their motivations and personality traits.
If you liked ROTS, you should definitely read this to see a new, deeper take on a familiar story. If you didn't like ROTS, you should still read this to appreciate the underlying meaning and potential behind the movie that drives many fans to appreciate it. Stover is an incredibly gifted writer, and I hope to read his other Star Wars books eventually as I've heard they're just as good.

Revenge of the Sith sat me down and made me love the story more than the Film - it remains serious, and portrays the story as the Tragedy it deserved to be.
