This was one of the best books I’ve read in awhile- whilst the plot is fairly predictable and simple, it was a refreshingly easy read and I knew as soon as I began reading that I’d quickly fall in love with the world and its characters. Paedyn as a FMC is refreshingly ‘ordinary’ in a way that is inspiring to any female reading and I really just enjoyed the hunger game themed plot. Can’t wait to read the rest tbh

AI have mixed feelings about this book. 4.5/10
Small things dimmed my ratings for this book. Like the author not explaining a character when they were introduced. I would read a whole scene until the author says out of nowhere, "His short chestnut hair". This book was more of a romance book than it was a fantasy book, and I want to like it because it's her first book. The betrayal didn't stick right with me because I didn't understand how Paedyn could say that Kitt is like his father when she knew his stance on the plague war and his opinion of ordinaries. Did she think that she could betray him and he wouldn't get mad at her??? The mention of blood at the beginning of Kai's perspective became repetitive. They call each other darling too much. Pae threatening him with a dagger every chapter gets boring. Also everything Pae said Kai was being a gentleman was so annoying. But there were moments where this book made me smile and I truly did think the writer put something in this book in a good way. So my feelings are mixed. I don't know If I want to finish the series.

It was a wonderful book and the ending was very tense and made me audibly gasp, so I would recommend for people who like cliffhangers!
Moderate: Death
There is quite a bit of language in the book.
Kai and Paedyn almost get together but then she betrays him

I love powerless - I was doing my reread of it and I love it now just as much as I loved reading it the first time!
My standards were already high but after reading this they’re so high I can’t see them anymore
