Complex family drama at its best.
Four siblings, Junior, Mance, Cece and Tokey, come together when their father, King passes away. The Kingdom in Diggs, NC - the ancestral home of the Solomon's with over 200 acres of land is now in limbo and could possibly be taken from underneath them.
Each sibling has a different point of view in the narrative, and each sibling is hiding their own secret. Power, money, abuse and blackmail run rampant but the heart of this book is FAMILY and really, to me, Long After We Are Gone explores the central theme of how damaging family secrets can be for generations.
The book does a wonderful job of educating the reader issue of Heir Property Law and the historical significance of these issues without being overly pedantic. The prose is beautiful, haunting, and emotive. Loved it.
