This book was interesting and I enjoyed the story but it was a little drawn out. You really get inside the nitty gritty of each of the four characters and you really feel like you’re mucking through that emotional turmoil with them but I found myself thinking JUST CUT TO THE CHASE. The ending was good though and very satisfying. The character development is strong but I feel like most of the books content is character development and sometimes that makes the story move slowly for me.

Interesting premise, I enjoyed learning about heir law. But I just did not like any of the characters. They all constantly make the worst decisions, it's crazy that everything worked out how it did in the end

I really enjoy thick family dramas, and on that front, this book didn’t disappoint. The characters were very interesting and I think Harris wrote a great story about a lesser-known topic. That being said, I think I would have liked it a little more if the characters felt more complex. Their motivations all seemed very one-dimensional and I would have liked to more about their inner thoughts and motivations. Also, it is a very heavy read, which isn’t a bad thing, necessarily, just something to be aware of going into it. I do recommend this book though, as it is a good and important story.
