I liked and somewhat disliked this book. I just can't see why tony kept things from each other. If they loved each other they should have felt comfortable with each other. And I really couldn't get into some of the scenes when he was calling her Pep.
I think my review may be a tad unfair because I read both the hoops series and the Grip/bris books first. The writing is so amazing is those two series that I was looking for that in this book and it just wasn’t what I’d hoped. There are moments where the writer that Kennedy has become peeks through but on the whole, it just wasn’t as good. For me Rhyson was an entitled brat. He went through hell with his parents controlling his life so one would think he’d be understanding when someone insists they want to stand on their own. But nope. He just bulldozes right on through what also wants and does what he thinks is best. In other words, he behaves like a tool.
Kai has walls that she refuses to let down. She stubbornly hands on to the notion that she cannot accept help because then she’ll be dependent on a man. She has good reason to not want to be dependent but she’s a bit over the top about letting people in.
Since I have read the other books, I know how this story turns out. I also know that Rhyson reminds me of Jared and he is my least favorite of the guys in Kennedy’s books. I’m sure I will finish this trilogy but I’m not in a hurry to pick up the next book because I kind of want Kai to make him suffer.

It was a good story. Kept me interested the whole time. I must say my favorite part was the 'O Holy Night' scene. It brought me to tears. I highly recommend.

I LOVE Kennedy Ryan, but Kai? That’s all I have to say. I only continued on because I have to see every series through.

La mia anima da custodire è un romanzo intenso, potente, ricco di passione, sentimento, di tanta musica e tanto amore. Rhyson e Kai sono due protagonisti splendidi, impossibile non affezionarsi a loro. Kennedy Ryan è bravissima a caratterizzare i suoi personaggi, sempre così pieni e ricchi di sfumature, complessi, forti e vulnerabili allo stesso tempo e Rhyson e Kai non sono da meno. Ho instaurato con loro un fortissimo legame, sin dai primi capitoli.
Un aspetto che mi ha affascinato moltissimo è stato vedere come Rhyson e Kai siano riusciti a influenzarsi in modo positivo reciprocamente. Entrambi cambiano tantissimo nel corso del romanzo e assistere alla loro evoluzione sia personale, sia come coppia mi ha molto colpito. Commettono degli errori, ma non c’è alcuna malizia o calcolo. Il passato travagliato e difficile che tutti e due hanno avuto li ha resi le persone che sono oggi, ma il loro amore è davvero molto forte e profondo. Ho apprezzato come sia nato il loro rapporto, non hanno bruciato le tappe, prima sono diventanti amici, hanno iniziato a fidarsi l’una dell’altro e l’amore è stato una logica conseguenza del loro legame.
Attraverso il Pov alternato è facile entrare in perfetta sintonia con loro e tutto quello che ho scoperto mi ha reso molto partecipe della loro storia. Niente nella loro storia è semplice o scontata, anzi dovranno superare moltissimi ostacoli e il mondo esterno, le rispettive carriere, e le persone importanti per Rhyson sembrano sempre voler mettere loro i bastoni tra le ruote. Tuttavia, il modo che hanno di stare insieme e di comprendersi è qualcosa che sembra essere in grado di superare qualsiasi avversità.
La trama ha una evoluzione intensa ed è ricca di sentimento, la competenza e l’abilità con cui la Ryan ci parla di musica è impressionante. È possibile che un libro riesca a farci “sentire” la musica? La risposta è sì, soprattutto se è Kennedy Ryan a farlo. Adoro il suo stile di scrittura, il modo in cui riesce a parlare di sentimenti e a coinvolgerti. La sua penna è fluida, ricca di sfumature, potente e di impatto; riesce a catturarmi, mi fa immergere nella lettura facendomi provare sensazioni uniche. Inoltre, affronta anche argomenti difficili con una naturalezza e una sensibilità che la contraddistinguono.
Il finale è aperto e attendo con impazienza di avere il seguito tra le mani, devo assolutamente sapere.
