I liked The Witch Boy but I don’t think I want to read the other volumes in this series as I wasn’t that invested in the story. It had lovely quotes on being yourself and trust in your own capabilities. It’s nice to see a guy who is interested in magic and that we shouldn’t stereotype everyone and everything. Not everyone is meant for magic but not everyone who does magic is the right person for it either. That’s why it’s best to do what your heart says and follow it.

I really loved the idea of this. The story was really original, the art was beautiful. It even included a character guide in the form of a beautiful family tree (which I honestly feel like all graphic novels should do, just saying). I think its a wonderful début! I loved Charlie, and kind of wish this story had been more about her, but Astor was great too. I loved that it was told as a graphic novel, because I feel like a lot of it could have been easily lose a lot of imagery if told in another way. I did think some aspects of it were ever so slightly predictable in a way, and the characters were slightly two dimensional. But! I would definitely, certainly recommend it to anyone. I actually read it twice to make sure I didn't miss anything. So cute and smart and great!

This was a nice story although I just wish there was a little more. I liked how this story was about a kid going against the odds to be who he really is.
