I loved this book! This book was exactly what I needed right now. First of all, you MUST listen on audio. The two actors that perform protagonists Leena and Eileen are a delight and really bring the story to life. Burnt out Leena is forced to go on two month sabbatical from work in London, and essentially switches lives with her grandmother whose husband recently left her and who wants to look for love beyond her tiny Yorkshire town. Both women are also rediscovering themselves and reconnecting to life after losing their respective sister and granddaughter, Carla, one year ago. This story is sweet, heart-warming, and funny. Give me all the older lady protagonists please!!!

It took me a little bit to get into this one because I didn't really like Leena (Eileen the younger), and the plot point of a sibling death is just not one I usually go for. However, Eileen the older kept me around, and I ultimately enjoyed the read. I do think that I in general enjoyed Eileen's chapters more than Leena's though.

I loved The Flatshare and while I didn't enjoy this as much, I still found it pretty charming. It actually reminded me more of The Lido by Libby Page than The Flatshare. It's a lighthearted story on the surface but the characters are dealing with deeper issues and it strikes a good balance between the two tones. It's a reassuring kind of read and you know everyone will end up where they should be by the end.
