This is definitely not plot heavy. It is more of a character study with different stories mixed in. Personally, I was more of a fan of the story IN the story. I would love to have had that more fleshed out and as a stand-alone. I liked this better than the author's previous work of "Things Have Gotten Worse Since We Last Spoke". After reading two separate pieces from this author, I think I've come to the conclusion that he is not for me.
hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
i feel like a lot of people rly like this and i dont know if i feel the same
i suppose i see it i kind of felt it but to me i dont think it rly came together in the way i wld like it to
i find the passages of youve lost a lot of blood to be quite uninspiring but perhaps that is the point? and the visuals i find sort of hard to follow in my mind
it was ok i felt a little like it was trying too hard but maybe thats unfair

I first read “Things Have Gotten Worse Since We Last Spoke” by LaRocca and was whelmed by it, but not in love. It was unique and the way they used an Epistolary form was phenomenal, but the story lacked something for me.
However, I decided to give the author another chance and was I glad I did.
This little gem of a Novella was weird, confusing, and down right bone-chilling creepy. I felt myself writhing in discomfort in multiple places. The reactions I had were literally visceral.
LaRocca is an exquisite writer and poet. The form and the story, poem, and story within the story worked seamlessly. I understand what they were trying to say about humanity, art, stealing, and reality versus alternate reality.
Kudos to this Novella. It was such a special work of art.

Just like with their last novella I absolutely devoured this one. Couldn’t put it down! Larocca has such a poetic way of writing horror it really is such a joy to read. There’s a lot going on in this story and I recommend going in with an open mind and a willingness to let the tide take you away.
Just too much. And it didnt make sense at all

My favorite Larocca I’ve read so far. Read it in one day. Super engaging and both stories were so interesting.

i love eric and how they play with different formats of writing. i think the conversation about a disturbing story vs a scary story is where eric thrives. i wish more of the book was the “manuscript” section, as that was most interesting to me. some of it felt like it was thrown in simply to add a layer of unease.
