The focus on friendship in this series is really warming my heart.
'If you're swaying between strength and weakness, Yoshioka, it's because you're changing, I think.'
~4 Stars
Just when we think they're growing closer, something comes up to ruin it all. Such a shame.
Futaba grow closer and further in this volume—they make steps, but other people keep coming up to invade their space. It's personally very offensive.
I can't be too upset, though, because we officially get to meet Kikuchi, and he starts making his presence known. I want to be upset about this for the romance, but he's also just a pretty great character. I liked him in the previous volume, even knowing he was going to start causing problems. And as he starts to get to know Futaba more, he starts showing up more; I really appreciate how he puts himself out there even when it embarrasses him. I'm a fan, despite myself. He's just too great.
It's funny to see Kou get upset about it, too, and it also helps progress the bromance between Kou and Kominato, which is also great.
More drama is coming in the next volume. I'm curious to see what happens at the festival, with this new girl, but also wary. I want FutabaxKou.

Originally a four star, after I reread it, I'm giving it two stars. This is the part of the story where things start to drag and drag. Kou likes Futaba. Futaba likes Kou. But for some reason, these two idiots are scared to reveal their feelings to each other. It's even worse now because new guy Toma wants to have Futaba for himself and Kou feels indebted to some mysterious girl from his past. So now this love triangle is becoming a love square.
I want to root for Toma because he seems sweet but at the same time, why are you going after a girl that's in love with another guy? Don't you want better for yourself?! Besides the constant will they won't they scenes with Futaba/Kou, I felt like nothing really much happened in this volume. I'm still waiting for the side characters to get their own storylines. One scene I did like was when Kou had that heart to heart talk with Kominato. I'm happy to see their friendship developing even though I'm a bit annoyed that Kou didn't take the good advice that Kominato was giving him. Anyway, off to the next volume of this soap opera.

I really loved Touma's presence in this volume! I think he brings more softer, heart-on-his-sleeve side to the mixture. Like since Kou-kun has a quiet but has many defenses in how he feels like when he teases or says something the exact opposite of what he wants to say to Futaba, meanwhile Touma is also quiet but since he blushes so often, I feel like it's hard for him to truly hide away his feelings as easily. I like him a lot and I can't wait to see how he contributes to the story. I already liked what he said about change is fluctuation. It made me feel a bit validated haha...
The way that Futaba scolds herself for being very interested to know lots of things about Kou-kun reminds me of myself and the way I see my idols haha
