Daniel Hurst's books are already advertised as "psychological thrillers with shocking twists" and I'll be honest at this point, I'm yet to see these "twists" in any of his books.
The Doctor's Widow fell pretty flat quickly. Why was Greg so keen on proving that Drew was murdered by Fern, even put his life as risk when he didn't even know the guy that much? Also his reason for insisting Fern did it was flimsy at best. She was jealous? Yeah millions of women AND men get jealous, it's almost like it's... a natural thing

I read this book for a book prompt of Second in a series. This follows on from The Doctors Wife and is book 2 of 4

This book follows on from The first book The Doctors Wife. If you have not read that then you need to read that book first.

In regards to the book I enjoyed this book but can see it more as a Netflix series and I would probably enjoy it more. I think the author repeats himself too much. We know Fern was married to a doctor called Doctor Drew Devlin but how many times do you have to write Doctor Drew Devlin. We get it !!

This book is a bit if cat and mouse. Fern is a character that you will love to hate. I mean why should she not get revenge her husband did the dirty on her. So at times I do feel sorry for her character but then she is slightly evil.

I enjoyed the first book and although this book was OK, not much happened but I think that's because I've since found out there are 4 books so I think the author is just setting the scene.

This I would call a popcorn psychological thriller. Easy too pick up and get into and now I feel fully invested in the characters.

3 out of 5.

The beginning of the book I didn’t really care for. For me, the book got interesting half way through part one. It was an easy read, but it’s not a book I would re-read or recommend. I wish I just purchased The Doctor’s Wife and read that before purchasing the rest of the series.

The story continues in the second book of this series with Fern moving on with her life after the death of her husband Dr Drew Devlin. Fern spends the life insurance money buying a lavish house back in Manchester. She meets and falls in love with Roger, thinking the past is behind her and that her secret is safe. Little does she know that Roger has his own secret ! Will she find out the truth about Roger? Is he who he seems ?
I was so lucky to receive an advanced readers copy of this book and yes, Daniel Hurst drew me in from start to finish as he always does! Secrets and lies are exposed and many twists to keep you hooked and on the edge of your seat. Fantastic suspenseful thriller which will have you page turning all the way through…. I feel there could be a 3rd story in this series… I sure hope so!
