⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This book is significantly better than the first in the series and you can really see the author’s growth.

The best improvement was in reducing the story speed and fleshing the world building and the plot out more.

I again really liked the strong FMC and her character growth. The plot was also exciting as it again had some surprises along the way.

I also liked how the first book tied into this one and can see this becoming more impressive as the series progresses.

It’s annoying that the map hasn’t been developed further since the first book and didn’t have details and locations referenced in this storyline.

Themes/Tropes:
High Fantasy Romance, YA, Good vs Evil, Tragic Backstory, Emotional Scars, Afraid to Commit, Royalty, Fake Marriage, Boss x Employee, Magic, Dragons, Shifters & Fae/Elves.

DID NOT FINISH

I hated these books - strong word, need to find another.  I had bought them thinking would be enjoyable romances with fantasy twist.  Far from the truth.  Boring, obvious tropes, lazy writing, simplicity in plot.  In other words, Boring!  Am donating the 3 books I bought and not going to start others.

I do really like this series and the first book in this series lives rent-free my head, so I had to go ahead and continue and find out what happens in this world full of magical people on the brink of war.

This would’ve got a four star, but the miscommunication through literally the entire book until the very last chapter was really offputting to me. Irritated the snot out of me! Just communicate for Pete’s sake! But the yearning and is very good! I just didn’t want the whole book that way.  I would’ve liked Some communication. That would’ve been refreshing.

The elf King is a definitely broken emotionally and our lovely FMC is strong and smart and has the ability to help her King. It’s a fun tale of watch them navigate through the court and prepare for a war that’s looming in the future. I would’ve liked a little bit more of the adventure because we were in the castle a lot with a lot of diplomatic points, but it was fast pace and a really good time!

It is not spicy at all. It is fade to black, but it is still a good series and I will definitely continue!

Enjoy my Bookish Friend and remember, if you like/love a book talk about it!
