WOW, this was an amazing volume and I do like Yuji. He is a bit dumb, but I love his strength, love how courageous he is, and how he tries to help everyone (though I am glad that the other guy also told him to be careful of that). This was a kick-ass volume with plenty of curses, scary situations and an arc I cannot wait to read more of, thankfully I also got the 2nd volume from the library!

But why are all the girls bitches? We had Maki in the 0 prequel and now Nobara. LORD. I hope she gets a bit nicer because otherwise I will give up.

I ended up liking Jujutsu Kaisen a lot more than I expected! I haven't read many Horror mangas yet, so I wasn't sure if I'd like it. What I loved about this first volume is that we're dropped right into the action and experience the confusion and horror of the protagonist Itadori as we go on. He's a member of his school's small Occult Club even though he'd be better suited for any of the sports clubs. When his club members come into possession of a dangerous artefact, he's thrown right into the world of curses and monsters.

I liked Itadori, he's a good guy who doesn't seem to have many people in his life, but still wants to do good. When the opportunity presents itself, he tries to save his friends despite the dangers and risks his life for something only he can do. Unlike most people, he can act like a vessel for curses and decides to use this abnormality to protect others from cursed energy. I'd like to get to know him even better in the future, as the calmness with which he approaches this entire situation fascinates me!

The story was immediately immersive and got me hooked. The concept of curses that manifest because of people's emotions and bring with them negative energy was so good. I still don't understand everything, but the author is good at introducing us to the world without it being overwhelming or confusing. Itadori comes into contact with the Jujutsu sorcerers who can use cursed energy, a rare ability. There are only 3 people in the class at his new school where he can train his own abilities. Because he came into contact with a powerful curse, there's now another voice in his head and I'm so intrigued to see where this goes! There was quite a lot of body horror already and the art style really brings out the ominous atmosphere!

The usual "highschool teen is strong and fast and resilient so he gets to join a cool secret school" story but I really enjoyed it. I like the main character, and love the art style! Looking forward to reading more :)))
