I definitely was not prepared for this book! I feel the cover art makes it look for like a quirky YA, not a book that delves into some very heavy subjects. That aside, it was a fantastic story. I loved Eleanor, Raymond and Sammy.
Essentially, it’s a tale as old as time: damaged, unwell daughters trying to survive (and perhaps eventually prosper) being raised by a damaged, unwell mothers. But Eleanor shows how it’s possible to get “unstuck” when you open yourself up to found family, and, more importantly, professional help (therapy).
This is a story that will definitely stick with me for a long time!

This is the best book that I can remember reading. I have loved being immersed in Eleanor’s world and mind. She feels like a great friend, one that I am sad to say goodbye to. Somehow this story was both heartbreaking and heartwarming.

I had a hard time diving in to this book. It’s quirky - one of the main personality traits of the character. But once I got hooked, I loved this book. I loved the no-nonsense perspective of Eleanor, and the way she began to bloom.
