“You pierce my soul. I am half agony, half hope…I have loved none but you.”

This was an absolute BANGER. No one does it like Jane Austen and no one ever will. Confessions of love just do not hit the same as this.

On a more serious note, I adored this novel (no surprise there). Austen’s writing style is so fun, witty, and enjoyable. She crafts characters with such depth that is rare amongst more contemporary novels. Anne’s inner monologue was the highlight of this novel. The pining, yearning, and pain create such a compelling story. Austen so beautifully creates tension between two characters without even needing them to speak. Anne and Wentworth communicated through moments that no other character noticed, and it was fantastic. The tension built through these moments was the highlight of the novel for me. I am such a sucker for slow burns and pining, so naturally, I loved this. I genuinely threw my book across the room at points in this novel because I could not handle the tension and the pining. In my opinion, if a book causes me to have an emotional outburst, then it’s well written.

It's so impressive to me how relevant Austen’s writing is today. I found myself relating to a lot of the commentary in this book, and I think that’s incredible. She creates such timeless stories that appeal to a multitude of people, and create such a lasting emotional impact. I will forever be in awe of her writing.

There are a million things I could say about this novel, but I’ll leave it here. I will forever and always be a Jane Austen stan.
