Fire definitively has my favorite cast of characters so far in the series. The plot wasn't as good as Graceling, feeling slow at times. Still an enjoyable read!!
I know this is technically a teen book, but it felt more adult to me. There's a lot of skankiness in it. Seriously, pregnancy is not the only consequence of sex!!! That drove me a little crazy. The book does focus a little bit on the emotional consequences of sleeping around, but really not as much as I thought it should.
Anywho, I loved this book. Probably not as much as Graceling, but it was still really good. Don't go into it expecting it to be related to Graceling. Technically it is, but it really stands on it's own.

Loved it. I wish it had a follow-up to see how the characters play out.
IDK what happened to my other review of this, but whatever. I remembered not liking this one as much as Graceling, but I enjoyed this a lot. It's probably darker that the first book, which is saying something, but it expands the mythology in really interesting ways, and I really enjoy Fire as the main character. I had forgotten so many things about this, and it was fun to rediscover them. Looking forward to rereading Bitterblue, and I'm also hoping that some of the characters from Fire will reappear in future books.

Too many loose ends that don't wrap up. And too many characters whose motivations are incomprehensible. Decent story line, just poorly executed. The author throws in casual sex relationships (not graphic, but promiscuity is very nonchalantly included).

”it was courage and strength, and something else too, as if he were standing with her, as if he'd taken her within himself, letting her rest her entire body for a moment on his backbone, her mind in his mind, her heart in the fire of his.”
i am incapable of expressing with words how much i love this book, and this series. i'm not sure i can snap out of the dreamy state this book has put me in, despite knowing that i have piles of working awaiting me. i audibly gushed over the characters every five pages, and at one point even gushed to my mom about them. i love fire and brigan beyond words. ugh, i wish i could have lived here forever.
p.s.
brigan has shot up to the very top of my book boyfriends list in a matter of 460 pages.
