This was an amazing book. I didn't know much at all about the Tulsa riots and having the perspectives of the characters was great! If you like mysteries and history, read this now!!!?

This was a difficult, fascinating, and beautiful read.

It alternates from present to past, when a girl has just found a dead body in her house, and the story of how it got there is revealed. It's mysterious and done in a masterful way.

The way racism is tackled in this book is eye opening and heart breaking. The Race Riots in Tulsa were a large part of this book, and an event I had barely heard of before and was thus very interested to learn about.

My complaints about this book are that, while the ending was satisfying,
it seemed too perfect, especially for such an event described to be so awful. It seemed unrealistic that everybody survive and live happily ever after.
it seemed a little out of place. Also more minor, but I don't think the title of the book really matches anything significant in the book
