This reads like a romance written 5 years earlier, which is a big difference in the romance genre, and it's not a compliment.
I have several quips with the language used in this book, and the worldbuilding, but they are nothing compared the the annoyance of the ableism that would've been so, SO EASY to fix, but they didn't.
Also, you're really out there calling someone an "ugly bastard" for having a giant scar, huh, that's not a good look on you, MC.
