One of the best of this lengthy series. It opens with the resolution of the bomb scare that ended book 4, and continues the saga of the Clifton and Barrington families and their enemies Lady Virginia Fenwick and Alex Fisher. Giles goes to East Germany to recover the last copy of Uncle Joe, but lands in jail. Amazingly, he does smuggle the book out in a most remarkable way, and the book is published to wide acclaim. Lady Virginia's libel suit against Emma finally comes to court, and many twists and turns occur before the outcome is known.
3.5 stars
I think this is book five in the series? Another installment of the family's interesting lives. As usual, some parts are told in detail, and some are covered in merely a sentence (e.g. Giles's wife was pregnant in book 4 and in book 5 we learn within the space of a paragraph that their child died as a three year old).
I do admit that I switch off a bit when British politics come into play. I have no idea what all the party names are/mean. And I suspect other readers might miss the cricket references.
That said, Jeffrey Archer does manage to write in a way that makes his books easy to "gobble up". And this one ends on his usual cliffhanger. I also thought parallelizing the two court cases was quite clever.

Ah the classic Archer cliffhanger! Bits of this book were bit unbelievable but it was a still a good read.
3.5 out 5. Felt that the whole Russian prisoner plot was page filling
A lengthier read that picks up the pace by several leaps and bounds during the closing stages. Definitely not upto the standards of the first two books but better than the third and the fourth book.

This was better than #4, but still had some pretty big plot issues (I was confused by the HUGE plot holes in the Russian author portion of the story). I found the book entertaining overall and a quick read, but this author needs to find a way to liven up the story by the end of the saga.
another cliffhanger can't wait to get stuck into next book
