Unusual romance. Twist I didn’t see (unusual for me). Unique.

I've read a few Willow Winters books and really liked them. For me this was only an OK level book that proved quite disappointing. It just lacked the real depth, stress, anxiety, emotion, threat and peril necessary for a dark romance. Perhaps it's because I read this (almost) off the back of the Alpha's Claim trilogy (which is massively dark) but this felt a very tame read.
I really liked the characters in this book, how they met and how they interacted with each other. We built up to the truth about Jay and John throughout most of the book, despite it being fairly obvious within a few chapters. That said I still quite liked that build up and wandering how the triangle would resolve itself but that was when the book fell flat. We had the big reveal, a few disjointed scenes and bam, book over.
Oh and when Robin asks Jay to punish her don't expect some amazing scene of kinky sex with a bit of spanking/flogging and other 'punishments'. Once the fuse was lit it fizzled and popped a bit and then went out like a backyard firework on a very damp and wet bonfire night!
There is a 'prequel' book (Something to Remember) which I read first and really made me think Forget Me Not would have suspense, terror and "hate-to-love-you". If this had been written in the same vein as the prequel it would have been a 5 star read. The plot was such a good idea and the pace was good, I never felt as though the book was dragging and I found the author's writing style so easy to read. If you're a Willow Winters fan I'm sure you'll enjoy this and I will still read more work by her.

I think the author needs to do a lot more research on DID before writing a book that revolves around it
Also there wasn't much to the story

Everyone has a past. It can shape you into who you become or define the way you live. But everyone has a past...
Some are sweet. Some bring smiles and wistful glances. Others are the stuff nightmares are made of. And still others lurk just past nightmares into a horror we can only pretend to understand.
Forget Me Not was a beautifully dark tale of those hidden horrors no longer lurking in the corner. No, these ones came leaping out and refuse to go back. I am fighting happy/sad/fufilled tears as I type this.
I was joking with a friend that I must be deranged for gobbling up the dark romances but I think it's a reminder for us broken ones that there's hope. Look at me waxing poetic...Just remember I like the bad boys, so Jay is MiNE!
