Good potential but could have been better executed - not as flushed out as I would have preferred. A bit disappointing. Quick easy read though - very light and enjoyable. Not as meaty as say Lilac girls or The Nightingale. Fun to learn about the women who worked as gunners in WWII - never knew about their part in the war before.

Predictable story, no original twists and turns, but I did enjoy learning about the Gunner Girls.

Amazing story of how women took steps to help during wartime. Julia Kelly weaves an amazing story between two woman of two different decades. One woman has fallen in love and is trying to find herself while another is trying to figure out a gunners past thru a mysterious journal. A must read for historical fiction lovers.

The Light Over London is a very enjoyable WWII novel. It is not really a take on the British war effort that I had read before. First, I had read about the female ambulance drivers and the battle field nurses but I was not aware that there were female anti-aircraft teams. That is so cool. It is one of those things where you say look at what these girls did, you can never say they are incapable of doing anything again.

Secondly, the love story was a little different and I liked that it was a twist I did not see. I would recommend this novel to any reader. The two POV characters help keep the story flowing and the diary entries as division between Cara and Louise is nice as well.

I enjoyed the story of the Ack Ack girls, as I did not know that piece of WWII history. As always Julia Kelly does a great job melding the stories between a modern woman and a woman in the past, bringing both of their stories alive.

if you want a fluffy, romance read with a bit of historical intrigue thrown in, this is the book for you. if you are looking for a more focused historical novel, this is not it. while the premise was fascinating, the fact this book dwelled SO MUCH on louise's romance was a bit disappointing. don't get me wrong, it was an enjoyable read, but it was predictable and just could have been enhanced i think with a bit more focus on the war and less on love. also, louise was so naive... a little annoying. i did like cara's story though!!

This was a very good WWII story. It was more from a romantic side than the horrors normally shared in these types of books.
