I didn't actually finish this book. I tried...but...it was just kind of terrible. I stuck with it for a while, but it just kept getting worse, and I gave up at the point where this girl's loving father suddenly turns violent out of the blue...blech.
Nope
I don't even know where to begin. I wish I hadn't read it. I expected a cute romcom about a girl realizing she loved her best friend, but that was not this book. Not even close. (Spoilers below)
*
(Seriously, I'm not kidding. Spoilers.)
*
The first third of the book I just felt like she was too stupid, not believing he could love her even though he was making out with her a ton. Plus, she was making out with this other guy too.
Then she and a group of high school juniors and seniors go to Vegas (on a whim!) with fake IDs and she and her best friend, who have been dating all of one week, decide to get married while they're completely drunk. When they come home, they tell their parents, who completely flip out to the point of fist fighting and refusing to let them be married. So they leave.
Then there's this whole newly married thing, including looking for apartments and painting the walls and such. Through it all the other make-out guy from the beginning turns out to be a crazy stalker dude. Boyfriend gets injured, and the last bunch of the book is the drama of whether he's going to pull through.
Not to mention (yes, I know I'm actually mentioning it), the fact that people in her book never 'say' anything, they 'chirp' it. It gets really annoying. Also, the author knows nothing about American football. Like, at all. Even though best friend turned hubby is supposedly a running back and it comes up A LOT. Plus, the writing in general is just lacking. She repeats herself regularly, as in she says something in one paragraph and then says the same thing in a little bit different way in the very next paragraph. There are regular typos. Some of the phrasing is just odd. And really, I was just wondering what the book was supposed to be about most of the time.
I think this book just wanted to be too many things. Plus, there were a whole crap ton of things that were just plain unbelievable. I was kicked out of the story so many times it was a miracle I finished it. I hate to give one star reviews, but, ugh...

There was a lots of ''I love you's''..it did bother me at first..but when you get to thinkin, we dont say those words as often as we should to the people we love...
I liked the story..I even cried a little at the scene in the hospital...my heart was beating fast...I got all emotional..
The ending was a bit long...but yeah...I got my happy ending...

LOVED THIS BOOK, cannot explain how much this book touched me. Beautiful story.
Fun story but way too simple, i did enjoy it, it was nice and sweet but because of the spelling mistakes and other errors i can't give it more than 2 stars.
I don't review books cause I like people to go in with a blank slate when reading, but this needed to be said. Honestly, if I could give zero stars for a book, I would. I DNF at around 22%, because I just wanted to keep giving it the chance I felt it deserved... and I realised it really didn't deserve even that much of my time.
The premise of this novel drew me in - the chance at a high school romance with your best friend; I'm a sucker for those kind of books, no matter how cringeworthy they are.
And then I got further in. Honestly, not sure how this book managed to get published. Normally if a storyline grabs me, I can overlook things like grammar, spelling etc. But this book feels like it was written by a 14 year old.
The characters act sometimes much younger than their ages (16-21), but then there are times when they act so much older than they seem. Yet the language they use remind me of middle-school kids at times. I'm surrounded by teenagers at my job, and I'm certain none of them speak the way that these teens do.
The best friend just so happens to be the best looking guy at school. The guy Riley dates is a "bad boy" who is enemies with her best friend. The "slutty" look of every girl at school who isn't Riley. Cliché to the max. Add onto it the fact that you can tell from Chapter 1 that Clay is hopelessly in love with Riley... man, I should have stopped reading back then.
I feel I won't get the time back I spent on reading this. And yeah, my review may seem harsh, but honestly do not understand how this book has a current rating of almost 4 stars.

Didn't realize this was already here. I read this on wattpad before.
Couldn't even finish this book. It took forever and I still had to stop. The characters are so unrealistic, especially the parents. Blake's story line was so obvious. And the vegas part comeon ... married as a senior... in what world? Maybe shotgun style --maybe.
ONLY GOOD THING the sexual parts were really well done. Felt very organic, real, natural, and exciting!

This book will have your heart pounding in excitement one second, completely calm and wondering what will happen next, then you'll find yourself holding your breath and wishing you could read faster. This book is definitely for older teens though. Cussing, sexual content (though not graphic, still there), sexual comments, and occasional slapping.
The writing is good as far as the writer getting you to feel every emotion the main character, Riley, feels. But there are a lot of grammatical mistakes. You can understand it, but while I was reading I was able to pick out a lot of mistakes. Though, what I did like about the writing was that the views of the story changed as it went along. Most of the book is told by Riley's point-of-view, but Clay's side is told.
The love between Riley and Clay is sweet. Clay's love for Riley has been present since they were children, only growing stronger as the years go on, until Riley finally realizes that she has the same feelings for Clay as he does toward her. He's willing to do anything for her, and protect her against anything, including Blake.
I'd definitely recommend this book if you are old enough, and get consent from your parents. Just like I warned in the Walking Disaster review.
There is also a companion to this book called, Free Falling, that just came out on the 15th this month that is told from Maisie Preston's (Clay and Riley's daughter) view. I haven't read it yet, but I intend to get my hands on it sometime this year.
