I prefer Morrison's longer work; this needed some more space to develop. The ending felt particularly rushed, which made the consent feel shaky at times. Glad I tried this one, though!

I loved this novella. It's a super sweet story about two young adults, one a straight cis man, the other a trans woman who is still in the closet, and it has a HEA. Well written, relatable, and just overall adorable.

The last two chapters pack a lot and while Julia does give her consent (we are in her head anyway), it still feels like she is steamrolled at times. I think another time skip could have helped since Jesse has almost mindreading capabilities (I know you were best friends but your entire dynamic still shifted!).

Yay another trans romance!!. For real, Reese Morrison could write just about anything and I'd 100% read it. I'm obsessed with their stories and how inclusive they all are. I'm really sad none of their books are available as physical books because I would buy them all so fucking fast.

Anyway, this is a super short novella (perfect for a quick Pride read!) About two best friends. Julia is in love with her best friend Jesse, but Jesse knows Julia as Jude, his best bro. This 60 pages story somehow managed to encompass years of friendship and compassion and love and it's perfect. So good.

Rep: transwoman MC, cishet MC
CW: internalized transphobia, explicit sex with some body dysphoria in the middle, transphobic and homophobic family (minor but also intense moment)
