Good as always.

I didn't think this book was quite as strong as the last one. There was a LOT of action but not a lot of time for the characters to reflect or interact. I felt some of the historical figures we ran into were a bit forced (Shakespeare not bathing was a weird addition!), but it was fun and a light read.

Third book in the series. Fun/quick book series to read.

Another great addition to the series. I missed a certain character quite a lot, but was happy with this book. It took me a little while to get into this one, but once I did I devoured it in a few hours. I can't WAIT for The Necromancer!

Does this author appreciate any of his female characters?
If he doesn't want them to mess things up in the story (albeit I have a strange feeling that they might actually bring some useful/helpful traits like intelligence and calmness to the table), then why did write about those traits being a part of them in the first place?

So Perry finally got out of her prison (and I got to like her even more because of that), but at the same time, Scatty and Jeanne got fooled by Machiavelli (another character I really like, despite him being a male) and it now seems unlikely that they will be in touch with anybody anytime soon. (Irritating thing #2: Shakespeare the Smelling Cry-Baby... and pretty much any presentation of real persons in the series tbh...)

But in general, I may be getting used to Scott's 'action 24/7' -style. I also have to admit that he can write... and that as a kid I had a pretty awful taste when it came to books since I liked some honestly badly written stories more than his. (ew its my fault right?)

Josh is still an immature idiot and I'm not looking forward to seeing him again, but I propably have to.

LOVE this series! As a big fan of history, fiction, and fantasy, I'm loving reading a fiction about historical figures wrapped in fantasy. And I love researching the characters who I'm not familiar with. Great concept and each book keeps getting better than the last!
